Local Boat Launch Spots
Black Rock Boat Launch
This former Schuylkill River Project impounding basin has been transformed into 119 acres of beautiful woodlands, wetlands, and meadows, all connected by a network of interpretive trails and pathways (“Plant World” self-guided trail station shown below). It provides a relaxing and educational sanctuary for its human visitors, a flyway stop for migrating birds, and a dam passage for American shad on their springtime spawning runs.
Deep Creek Lake
If you are looking to kayak for the day Deep Creek Lake is for you! There are no Park boating permits or quarantining required to use Deep Creek Lake (no boating on Knight Lake). Since Green Lane Park is a Montgomery County Park we don't require a PA State Park launching permit. If you are using a small electric powered boat please make sure your PA boating registration is up to date. Paddle boards and inflatable kayaks (2 chambers) are allowed.
Ganshahawny Park
You will find 6 acres of shaded park along the Schuylkill River, with a boat ramp which is considered part of the Schuylkill River Trail. Plenty of parking, restroom facilities, picnic table and grills along the river as well as a pavillion with picnic tables, Ganshahawny is a peaceful place.
Marsh Creek State Park
Electric motors permitted; slow, no-wake speed. The 535-acre Marsh Creek Lake has two boat launches and 244 seasonal mooring slips. The lake is especially popular with sail boaters who take advantage of the combination of good natural terrain and prevailing winds.
